As an installer, self levelling resin screeds are very rewarding to lay as they have a seamless mirror like finish. Although aesthetically pleasing they are usually installed on industrial, garage and warehouse flooring environments as they have a high resistance to chemical attack, thermal shock and abrasion.
Recently a new Home Bargains store opened, their specification was for a durable, hard wearing surface for the warehouse floor area. After a site visit it was determined that a self levelling resin screed would more than accommodate their needs. The client chose a stirling grey colour from a wide range of colour options. This was the most fitting colour for their environment.
The first stage of the process was to diamond grind back the old substrate to create a key for the self levelling resin screed to adhere to. Any holes or seam lines found are filled. The floor is then ready for a primer coat.
Two coats of floor primer are laid to ensure the substrate is properly sealed and to make sure no air can raise through the floor which can create bubbles in the self levelling resin screed.
The self levelling resin screed is 3 part and is mixed in a bucket. It is then poured out and lightly worked with a trowel, it will level out any uneven contours itself. Throughout the process the resin screed is spiked using a spiked roller, this ensures any air traps are released.
The recommended curing time for a self levelling resin screed is 12 hours, this will ensure that you get a solid, smooth and shiny floor surface with a resistance to hostile environments.
The customer was very happy with the finished floor surface.
