It can be quick and easy to apply a concrete floor paint. Follow our simple guide to find our how. We can also tell you how to make your floor non slip.
1 Floor Preparation
This is the most important stage to ensure a good, even coverage of paint. Use a concrete degreaser to clean the floor thoroughly ensuring you remove as many oil and grease contaminates as you can. You should then either grind the floor or use a concrete etching product to remove any adhesive residue. This will ensure that you have a smooth surface ready to paint.
2 Priming the Surface
Using either a damp proof primer or an oil tolerant primer will ensure that your floor surface is ready for the base and top coat. It will provide a good key and ensure that the paint adheres well. These primers can be applied using a roller or brush.
3 Top Coat Application
Mix both parts of the concrete resin floor paint and apply with a roller or brush. This should be left for 24 hours to completely dry.
4 Anti Slip Finish
If you require an anti slip finish you would need to scatter the aggregate ensuring an even coverage. Once this has dried (ideally overnight) you should sweep the surface removing any excess or loose aggregate. You should then apply a second coat of concrete paint, this will seal in the aggregate. The floor should then be left for 24 hours to completely dry.
