Client: Carbis Bay Hotel
Project: 150m2 resin bound pathway
Location: Carbis Bay Hotel, Carbis Bay, Cornwall
Oltco installed the world's first Recycle Bound 150m2 pathway for longstanding client Carbis Bay Hotel, located overlooking Carbis Bay beach near St Ives, Cornwall. Oltco had previously worked with Carbis Bay Hotel to install resin bound pathways.
The client was looking for a smooth, porous and anti-slip surface that looked aesthetically pleasing for guests.
Carbis Bay Hotel was looking for a solution for its pathways leading up to its collection of lodges which are situated in a stunning location overlooking Carbis Bay beach. After discussing options with Oltco, it was decided that Recycle Bound was the best solution. This world-first product was developed and created by Oltco's experts and uses waste plastic to create a beautiful and hardwearing surface. Not only this, but being based on Cornwall's incredible north coast means that the Carbis Bay Hotel team know only too well the impact that plastic waste is having on our marine environments. Recycle Bound would allow them to contribute to tackling the plastic waste issue and they were extremely excited to be the first customer in the world to use this product.
Oltco is the first company to offer Recycle Bound. The innovative permeable solution has been created by Oltco's highly skilled team of resin experts making it SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) compliant. This was the perfect solution for Carbis Bay Hotel.
The hotel was running as usual during the installation and the pathway that was renovated is a coastal path. This meant it was open to guests and members of the public all day. Oltco's highly experienced team worked with the hotel's groundworkers to provide an alternative route for the public and guests to guarantee minimal disruption. The work areas were also sectioned off with barriers to ensure health and safety standards were met and to avoid people walking on the path before it had fully cured.
Oltco's team of experts worked to complete the 150m2 installation in just one day, providing the client with high satisfaction and avoiding disturbance for guests and members of the public.
Due to the blend's porous properties, Carbis Bay Hotel can be confident that water will not wear away the surfaces due to its insoluble nature.
This unique solution has used the equivalent of 450,000 straws in the path, having a real impact on the waste plastic that is already in circulation.
With a 20 year guarantee, Oltco has provided Carbis Bay Hotel with an aesthetically sustainable solution that will benefit the area for years to come.
"We are extremely excited to be the first customer in the world to use this sustainable resin bound solution. Due to the sustainable properties of Recycle Bound, it was an easy decision to make to use the product, especially as it comes in the same colour range and at the same price as the other resin bound solutions.
Oltco completed the project with outstanding standards and we are extremely impressed that the installation only took one day meaning we could run our business as usual.
The pathway looks fantastic and to know we are making a difference to the environment is an added benefit. We have used Oltco previously for our resin solutions and we will continue to recommend them due to their professionalism and true craftsmanship. We hope more clients and customers will consider using Recycle Bound."
