Resin paving is not completely resistant to weeds; however, it can greatly minimise the chance of weeds growing. Unlike concrete or block paving, there are no cracks or gaps in the resin bound flooring, minimising the growth of unwanted weeds.

Seedlings can sprout on top of your resin bound surface, this occurs when seeds are dispersed by animals and the weather. If you do spot any seedlings sprouting from your resin bound surface, simply remove them by hand ensuring to remove the root as well as the weed.

Regularly sweeping your resin surface with a firm outdoor brush should prevent seedlings from sprouting.

When professionally installed on a suitable base, resin bound paving is designed to be a long-lasting surface, typically lasting 20 years or more. Its durability comes from the combination of high-quality resin and natural aggregates, which create a strong, hard-wearing finish that can withstand regular use and changing weather conditions. At Oltco, our systems are backed by a 20-year guarantee for added peace of mind.

Our resin bound paving provides a naturally anti-slip surface, making it a safe option for outdoor areas such as pathways, patios and walkways. The aggregate’s textured finish offers grip underfoot, even in wet conditions. This makes resin paving a practical choice for family homes and high-traffic areas.

Yes, resin bound paving can often be laid over existing concrete, provided the surface is structurally sound, clean and free from cracks or movement. Installing over a suitable existing base can help reduce groundwork and overall costs. If the concrete is damaged or unsuitable, your local Oltco team will recommend the best preparation work to ensure a long-lasting result.

Oltco’s resin bound paving is typically laid at a thickness of around 15–18mm, depending on the size of the aggregate used. This depth ensures a strong, even surface that can withstand regular use while maintaining its smooth finish. The overall strength of the installation also depends on the quality of the base layer beneath the resin.
